THE2NDHAND is a free quarterly broadsheet and weekly online magazine featuring new short writing from working authors across the US. The broadsheet enjoys distribution of approx. 2500–3000 copies in several metropolitan regions via independent bookstores and affiliate organizations, and accompanies a recurrent live reading series in Chicago, Birmingham, and various other cities. Since 2000, we've fostered an inclusive mix of seasoned practitioners, insurgent up-and-comers, and rabid audiences with a perennial indie-lit favorite. We're distributed widely in Chicago and Birmingham, AL, and in select spots in New York City, Philadelphia, Portland OR, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Charlotte NC, Atlanta, Austin, New Orleans, Cleveland, Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, Madison WI, Bloomington IN, and other locales with assistance from the following friends: Faith Zink, Cassie Sneider, Blake Butler, Emerson Dameron, J.B. Mulholland, Razorcake, Tobias Carroll of The Scowl, Andrew Davis, Gregory Ellis, Loop Distro, Niccola Piccola in New Orleans, The Left Hand, Jason Jordan of DecomP, the great Mickey Hess, and Featherproof Books. See below for a list of reliable drop spots. We run on volunteer power, generally. If we're not in your area and you would like to help out, please send an e-mail to Todd Dills or C.T. Ballentine and let us know. Otherwise, a lifetime subscription for readers in the US can be had for a donation of $30 or more.
